Entersource pt. 3 – Open Source has traction in the Enterprise

Yesterday’s Study: Open-Source Making Significant Traction in the Enterprise post by Alex Williams on the ReadWrite Enterprise blog is a nice follow on to my Good to the Core? post. In support of his statement that “Open-source software is at an inflection point in the enterprise”, Alex references a survey by Accenture that found that

more than two-thirds of organizations anticipate increasing their investment in it this year, and almost 40% said that they expect to migrate mission-critical software to open source within the next 12 months.

While I won’t even try to summarize the range of findings from Accenture’s survey of  “300 blue-chip organizations in both the public and private sector”,  I will quote Alex’s conclusion that “Open source is on a trajectory to become dominant over the next 10 years”.

No more spinning wheels!   Entersource and other forms of open source software have traction in the enterprise.
