Birds of a Feather – Commons Sourcing & the Oil Spill Fallout

Earlier this week, The Atlantic posted another great Niraj Chokshi article called Crowdsourcing the Oil Spill Fallout. Niraj reported that an environmental advocacy group, The Louisiana Bucket Brigade, is harnessing social media to collect “reports on how the oil spill is affecting life and land on the Gulf Coast”. The group’s project uses the open source Ushahidi Platform (discussed in my earlier If your life depended on it post) and it is wonderful to see open source software in particular, and commons sourcing in general, coming together to do good in the midst of these dark and troubling days.
